About the Fan on MY Graphic Card

    ok well there was this strange buzzing comeing from my PC bout a month ago, it stopped but now its back and it will not go away, and i t is coming from the fan on my graphics card...

    any idea if its fixable
    i have a Nvidia GeForce Fx 5500 256
    its in a PCI slot.....

    any help will be appreciated

    It can possibly be fixed but it's fiddley and may not last!!

    Replacement is the best option!!!!

    The noise is probably the edge of the fin hitting somthing (have you jolted the card or applied pressure that might have moved the fan?) or, more likely the bearings are causing the noise. rik is right, a new fan will cost a few $ and be alot easier then messing around with cleaning and lubricating fan bearings.

    yeah im sure its not hitting anything ive moved card aroud countless times, it just keeps making that annoyinbg hum

    so replacement fan or card?
    where to find this fan stuff, and new fan?
    or just go for a new card?

    The sound you describe is rarely caused by the blades hitting something!! The most common cause is wear on the spindle and/or bearing surfaces!!

    There are plenty of very good aftermarket graphics card cooling solutions that will certainly be a loy cheaper that buying a new graphics card!!

    Try googleing "gpu cooler"!!!!:)
