Acer 5920 black screen after boot up

    Hi,

    I have a problem with my friend's Acer 5920 laptop and I can't figure out how to fix it. When I turn the laptop on it asks to choose from the following configurations:

    Safe Mode
    Safe mode with Networking
    Safe mode with command prompt
    start windows normally

    When I choose 'Start windows normally' the Vista loading bars appear and then the screen turns completely black. The mouse pointer is visible.

    I tried to enter into Safe mode, but the same thing happens; A black screen with a visible mouse pointer.

    Can anyone help please?

    looks like a corrupted windows component. if you want to 'reformat' it press ALT+F10 after turning on it should lead you to Acer eRecovery console. Be sure to backup before formatting.
