1- You didn't talk about the biggest issue about the PG35VQ/X35: the flickering issue with OD normal/extreme.
2- All these cons on P3G5VQ/X35 are not acceptable for 2500$.

I'm interested in replacing my 34" curved monitor with the 4K model.

I'm not sure how my 2080TiFTW3 will handle the 8K model.

While it's by no means indicative of complete gaming performance at that resolution, 3DMark has a built in scaling system to allow you to run the tests at up to 8K (a quick routine is run to scale back to the monitor's resolution).

To give you an example, here is quick 3DMark TimeSpy run at 4K vs 8K:

Graphics Test 1 - 30.9 fps vs 8.0 fps
Graphics Test 2 - 29.7 fps vs 7.8 fps

Now admittedly this was with a Titan X (Pascal), so a 2080 Ti should do a lot better, but I suspect 8K is still going to be unplayable.
