Advise on new gaming rig

I am wanting to buy /build a new pc for high end gaming and have a few questons.

I am new to comp terms.I want to know what the best graphics card and procesor would be to play fps games and mmorg.I have around $1000 dollars to spend.I dont need a keyboard ,mouse , or moniter.

Ok for GPU get the new ATI 3870 as its amazing and because u want just for gaming really ur better for getting an intel quad cpu. for mobo get a crossfire mobo so u can get quad crossfire in the later future.
