AIM Toolbar and other Spyware...

Hello,

First, I'd like to thank in advance any responses I get to his thread. That having been said, I am currently running Vista on a Gateway laptop.

The problem: I recently reinstalled AIM and, in my hasty negligence, accidentally installed the AIM Toolbar. Of course, I'm well acquainted with the notion that free toolbars of this sort frequently carry spyware and other nasty codes. Usually, when this happens, I just go to Add/Remove Software and - POOF - problem solved.

Well, unfortunately for us, AIM is becoming more conniving and underhanded than usual. And the toolbar that so (generously of them) comes with AIM 6.5, does not appear in the program list. How creative of them...

I know that I can just disable the toolbar in Firefox, but this is just like putting duct tape over your odometer so you don't have to worry about changing your oil.

I've run Ad-Aware and CCleaner, but to no avail... If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. I would be greatly appreciative.

Thanks,
Minus

How about uninstalling AIM altogether then reinstall and leave out the toolbar?
