Alleged RTX 3080 Ti benchmarks put performance almost on par with the RTX 3090

You've got to put in the foot work.

Stalk your microcenter every day until they finally get one. Worked for me - got two 3090FTW3.
These people who come to these articles to cry about stock and make dumb statements like why even review something no one can buy?

Why???

Why do you think you can't buy one? Because SO MANY PEOPLE are wanting them and buying them up!

Everyone including those that lose out and can't land one deserve to know if it's even worth the effort.

Grow up we all can't get what we want all the time doesn't mean the rest of the world needs to wallow in your misery with you.

If you can use a credit card to buy a 3080Ti, and actually manage to get one, chances are the 3080 resale online will be high enough to justify upgrading to the Ti.

I managed to sell my 3080 for over $1000 and my 2080Ti prior for around $850 (adjusting for seller fees).

If 3080Ti exceeds $1400, people would gladly spend $1000 for a 3080. ANYTHING to play their games.

Yep Im planning for this exactly I've already upgraded my 3080 3 times and have managed to sell the older and cheaper models for more than enough to pay for the upgraded one.

I was hoping this thing would drop before Feb 26th as I have step up available til then but I would probably still make off better by selling the old card myself and paying for jew one with the extra funds likley still to be made.

Some people have better things to do with their time. During a pandemic you sure as hell aren't going to catch me outside in a huge line of people for an over priced video card :)

I got 12 total 3080 / 3090 during the first month or so of their launches and didn't have to step outside once to do so.

I also didn't use any bots or pay anyone extra for them before you accuse me of that.

Just good prep work and being diligent about notifications and/or having auto fill check out info ready to go in chrome..
If you wanted one if these cards at retail at least when I was really paying attention (last year) you could absolutely get one. But if you thought it'd be as easy as ordering take out for dinner then yes you would end up sorely empty handed.

I also got 2 PS5 and 4 Xbox series consoles all of which is secured by being reddy and waiting on their first day of pre-orders.

Plenty of people like me who I communicate with online were successful I have a group of about 30 guys who all own the same oled TV's and we like to discuss them on discord and other tech that happens to pop up in our lives we think the others may be interested in.

And every single one of them across both the US and Europe was successful in some way getting their console or gpu's of choice.

Trade phone numbers with you to skip ahead in line? And what worker is going to do this without you give them something in return like cash? Unless that is actually a friend working in the store.

Most of the stores I know would not go lightly on employee's for doing this and if someone in the lines notices this is going on and complains will it be worth their job?
Plenty of like minded gamers and such work in these places and If you're friendly enough and just give em the right good vibes I've had many willing to work to help me secure things like this before.

I decided to check prices now. They doubled. In my country rx 580 now costs 450 euros instead of 220. I'm out of words...

Sounds like it's a good time for me to pull that "backup gpu" (rx580 8gb) I keep in a drawer out and set it free from its life of never doing anything! Lol

lol good vibes like cash in hand.

This is why you don't buy halo products unless you have money to burn.

So now everyone that bought a 3090 is going to feel silly because the 3080ti will offer 95% of the performance for cheaper.

That feeling at the pit of your stomach is called buyers remorse.

I ordered a 3090 Strix OC at launch. That card now costs €500 more than what I paid for at launch from the same store. If they were to launch a 3080ti Strix OC tomorrow, I bet the actual price, not MSRP, would be just about the same as what I paid for my 3090. No remorse there where that is concerned.

Where I -do- feel buyers remorse is the sad realization that none of the fancy new AAA titles I bought can run 5120x1440p @ 60fps with everything maxed and they all turned out to be pretty meh. At least it runs my old games like a champ, but it's pretty overkill for the most part.

"It could also offer an attractive option for those after a high-end Nvidia card without paying $1,499+ for the RTX 3090."

Hahaha!! You guy are really funny sometimes!!! But please do replace the word "those" with "SCALPERS" for maximum effect next time!!

On the other hand, why would nVidia create such a card that's as powerful as their top of the line 3090 for $500 less? I fail to see the point in that.

Ηere in the EU, the 3090 isn't $1499+, it's 2300 Euros+.

At this point, MSRP prices are pure fiction and I don't understand why they are even mentioned at all.
Amen to that. MSRP label instead price should be like: you'll never buy it losers!

With price gouging implemented by EVERY retailer you have to pay equivalent of ~2600-2800 Euros for 3090 across the board. No matter Amazon.EU or local shops. Everybody just basically multiplied the $$$ price by 2 (1500USD=~1235 Euro), + VAT, converted to local currency and voila. And its getting worse by the day, not better.

Because here in America, we can walk into Microcenter, or go on Best Buy's website during restocking periods, buy the card and pay MSRP.
Whether you realise this or not, you come across as very smug and superior. It's shame because sometimes you do have good things to say.

Here in the UK you can buy a 3090 and if you get the occasional drops from the Nvidia website, you can get a FE for MSRP. It's more likely though that you have to pay at least £200 more (if you're lucky) because even the online stores are scalping.

I bought my 3090 for £1500 and 2 days later the etailer I had bought from had raised their price to £1700.

I doubt you will see a 3080ti anytime soon anyway. They can't even provide adequate stock of their existing 3 series range.

More cards you can't buy, and even if you find one, still have to pay 30% mark up from "reputable" stores.

The GPU market is a racket and it's making me lose my interest in PC gaming. Unless I agree to pay a ridiculous price, I'm stuck on a GTX 1080 which isn't enough for many newer AAA games at 1440p 90+ FPS at high or better settings. Oh well, maybe I was getting too old for gaming anyways.

I should just use this money elsewhere.

RTX 3090 is a "Titan", so why would anyone be surprised or confused about a 3080Ti being cheaper and just as fast?

Are peoples' minds getting wiped every year?

Do the smart thing and buy a 3090 - overclocked if possible. I am loving my FTW3, but if I can get my hands on a Kingpin, I'll upgrade and sell the FTW3.

There's no way the 3080Ti will match or exceed the 3090 when the 3090 has a larger memory Buffer.

3080 is a great card for the mainstream and the 3080Ti will probably be exactly what buyers actually wanted the 3080 to be.
I think I'll defer to Steve on how smart buying a 3090 is: not at all.

As a reasonably new PC gamer I started with a 2070 and then upgraded to a 2080ti after watching too many HU and DF videos. Now I have a 3080 but I think I've finally managed to accept that having the best PC GPU is a losing battle because another one is always round the corner, and games will always demand more at the highest settings; even from the best insanely expensive equipment.

Well, when you consider that a) now I don't even need to see the benchmarks to know where I'll place, b) $1799+ tax is a month's work on Youtube., c) I can run any and everything available and never have to think about how well it will run...

It's a great move.

I concede that in your personal position of making money on YouTube from these cards it could be considered smart. However, you were telling everyone to "just buy the 3090". You should perhaps preface statements like that with "First, start a YouTube benchmarking channel"...

Yea, agree, go for the top end models, since they are so expensive already, the added cost for massive heatsink and cooling fan is actually minimal percentage wise. Mine is MSI 3090 SuprimX, so quiet I think I will always get top end model from now on... I have been putting together PCs for 25 years... it's worth it, but of course, I am saying this because I am bit richer than before so.

What a load of nonsense. Personally I upgraded from 5700XT and in most games in Ultra I'm getting 90 to 100% better FPS. Why would I have buyers remorse or to give it its technical term cognitive dissonance.

Some people are price sensitive/conscious and some are not and will buy higher priced products because they feel they meet their needs and wants better. Neither is right or wrong it's down to people's perception of price which is an individual's own belief.

Overlaying your perception of price is meanginless nonsense.

I know you are trying to vindicate your purchase but the 3080TI model will be cheaper and offer virtually the same performance. No amount of mental gymnastics will make 3090 a smart purchase over the 3080TI.

Excuse me but what's it got to do with you which card I bought and how much it cost? I'm not trying to vindicate anything I know how much I paid for it and I'm happy with that. I paid it, got the card and it's performing superbly so what's the issue.

You're just spouting vitriolic nonsense concerning a 3080ti, that doesn't exist, may never exist and therefore has no price to compare against.

RIP 3090 then. I mean everyone knew this was going to happen. The 3090 was like the Titan. There to scoop up all that money from the enthusiasts who will pay obscene amounts to have the best, even if it’s for just a few months.

I think il wait until the 4080 or whatever the next gen is called to upgrade my 2080. I really wouldn’t want to be buying a a GPU right now.
There won't be stock of 3080Ti widely available.
