annoying audio isssue

    hi
    i have this annoying audio problem. I have an asus p5pe-vm motherboard with integrated soundmax audio. What happens is the wave volume is constantly turning itself downand a little warning icon appears beside it. When i click the icon the volume level returns to its original position. But a few minutes later it is back down again. If anyone has any ideas how to fix this, I would appreciate it.

    it doesn't really matter what i am using. It changes the volume om the main windows sound controls.
