Any feedback on avast 5 free edition?

I didn't benchmark avast5.

Just felt it was a trifle slow. I could be wrong.

Just had a look at the link provided by you:

While avast! didn't come close to receiving "product of the year" AV-Comparatives did award it a bronze medal for fast on-demand scanning. I can't figure that one out; my own results show it scanning significantly slower than average. Both ICSA Labs and West Coast Labs certified avast!'s ability to detect malware, and it received the VB 100% award from Virus Bulletin in eight of the last ten Windows-based tests. Overall, the lab results are positive, though not overwhelming.—

I have Microsoft Security Essentials loaded too.

Seems to slow down my start up considerably.

Looks like it does some scanning or checking, right after startup (in win xp sp3).

I hope I haven't screwed up some setting.

OK, I hope that this is just an issue of English syntax, since after 721 posts you should know better than to have >> TWO << anti-virus programs installed at the same time.

Hello, Captain ! ;)

Long time, no see.

So what's wrong with taking MSE for a test ride ?

My faithful Sancho, for quite a whiule, has been Avast.

All the same, it is good to hear from you.

So let the show begin !:D

I have avast 5 and it is the best to protect against all kinds of trojans.
