Are procedures for CMOSW reset same?

In general are the steps in clearing the CMOS the same across types of boards? I use an ECS K7S5A PRO and do the following.

    Disconnect ATX power connector.
Remove the jumper and places on pins (as per manual)
    Wait a few seconds
Remove jumper and change pin location.

If you were changing the battery would you do the same process?

    Thanks,
    Bob

Clearing the CMOS is the same process for most (if not all) PC x86 boards. I don't think it's necessary to clear the CMOS when changing battery as it will clear anyhow.

The only thing to remember is that some boards will store the system/user passwords in an SRAM chip that won't be cleared when you change the battery / clear CMOS data... in those types of boards (I've found it tends to be intel boards) you'll need to find a secondary jumper which will clear that.
