Asrock Vision HT 420D HTPC Review

Hi, I am definitely not a tech person, so excuse my stupidity. I got attached to the HT420D. I am aware to this date that there is another version being the X420d with double the ram and better graphics. But I'm only thinking of this Ht for basic computing, browsing and watch HD 720p/1080p compressed movies.
What I would like to clear is, if I would double the ram with an extra 4gb card and install Win7 32bit, would the full 8gb ram be recognised? Reason for asking as my previous desktop system, with same specs did not recognise more than 3gb out of the 5 I had installed.
Thanks in advance.

No, 32bit operating systems are limited in the amount of ram you can recognize and 7-8.1's limit is 4gb.

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I have a further curious matter, as I recently bought the HT420D and tried to upgrade the memory by another 4GB of RAM, according to your recommendation.

The problem is that not bring a technical person, I might have bought the wrong memory card. As when I made sure it was installed perfectly, the pc started beeping 3 long beeps at start up, meaning a warning in the memory area.

To tell the truth I couldn't find a matching ASint DDR3 4GB 1600mhz card but I bought the CORSAIR Vengeance but with same specs and a 204-pin card from Amazon.

Have I chosen the right card, was it compatible or maybe it was damaged?

Thank you once again for your guidance.

Any suggestions about my last question regarding the installation of a memory card, as I haven't received any feedback?

Sorry about the late reply, this is an old thread. You have purchased the correct memory module. Perhaps try resetting the BIOS.

Hi I bought this ASRock mini PC some three four ago and up till now no problems what-so-ever. But lately I've been getting this black screen (re-below) warning that is worrying me:

Copyright (C) 2012 American Megatrends, Inc.
BIOS Date: 11/21/2014 11:43:18
Press <CTRL +P> to Enter MEBX setup menu
HM87-HT UEFI P1.90
CPU: Intel (R) Core (TM) i5-4200M CPU @ 2.50GHz Speed: 2500MHz
Total Memory: 3838MB

UEFI Defaults have been loaded.
Press F2 or DEL to Run Setup
Press F1 to Continue

Does it have to do with BIOS update? I did run it to check the update and it tells me it's 'up to date'. I also switched an SSD drive to the system to make it faster and also did analyzed, optimized and defragmented both drives.

Would you kindly let me know what could be the problem, why is it that every now & then I keep getting that warning? Thank you for your guidance and patience.
