ASUS A7V8X new build problems

  1. I've built an ASUS A7V8X mobo with the following:
    Nvidia Gforce FX 5600
    1gig ddr pc2700 RAM
    AMD Athalon 2600 XP
    80G HD
    200G HD
    CD rewritr
    DVD rewriter
    Running Windows XP SP2

All drivers appear to be upto date

The system seems stable enough to start with, then once running programmes or playing games it starts to freeze, hang up or re-boot.
This shows up on games at end of missions or save points
The temp around the CPU seems to be anout 35degrees.

    Anyone got any ideas??

    Cheers

What date are your drivers for the 5600? Other then that I'd recommend you run some CPU and memory tests to see if that's causing your instability.

I re-check the nvidia site today & I'm upto date.
what do you recommend I use to check the CPU & memory
    I sometimes use PCPitstop

For the RAM, I highly suggest memtest86 . It is very robust and comprehensive on top of being free. It also boots off a disc, so there is no overhead or locked memory from being inside an OS.
