I was told by Webroot that i have a bad cluster on my drive. I am wanting to do a disk check on Windows Xp start up. I keep getting the little black box disk check instead and it says that its running in read mode only. Anybody know whtas gong on?

Click on Start and then Run, type cmd into the run box and hit enter, at the command prompt type chkdsk /r (make sure you leave the gap before the /) then hit enter. This should then run and fix any errors.

Post back with the results.

Ok it worked thanks, not sure if it fixed the cluster though is there any way to check? The scan did take way longer than usual, usually when i have ran a check disk at start up it may take 10 minutes tops this one took about 3 hours.

Chkdsk /r does a full check on your disk and is normally a long process when you have a large hard drive. It marks disc errors so they do not get used by the OS. You should be OK now.
