  1. Bethesda Softworks’ vice president of PR and Marketing, Pete Hines, has been speaking about some of the company’s plans for the future, including sequels to Rage and The Evil Within, along with its views on the upcoming Nintendo NX.

In an interview with Australian site Finder.com.au, Hines talked about the 2011 FPS Rage, which was developed by Doom maker id Software and published by Bethesda. It's a game that I personally love, despite the very abrupt ending that sets it up for a non-existent sequel. However, it seems Rage 2 could finally become a reality.

The VP also spoke about another Bethesda publication: Tango Gameworks’ The Evil Within from 2014. The horror title had a mixed reception on its release; the PC version was heavily criticized for its long list of technical problems and being another poor console port.

"I can’t talk about the unannounced stuff and what we may or may not do... So I won’t confirm or deny stuff we may or may not do, as people jump to the wrong conclusions. But I do think both The Evil Within and Rage did well enough that we could make sequels," Hines said. "We have a lot of stuff in the pipeline right now so you will have to wait and see."

We may have to wait a while before the sequels arrive. Hines previously stated that Bethesda is currently working on two huge new projects that are comparable in size to Fallout and Skyrim. He dispelled rumors that one of these would be the next in the Elder Scrolls series. “You’re not getting an Elder Scrolls 6 for many years,” he said.

In a separate piece, Finder.com.au managed to talk to Hines at the recent QuakeCon event to find out if Bethesda would be releasing games for next year’s Nintendo NX system. The company never released any titles for the Wii U, something Hines put down to Nintendo not reaching out to third-party developers soon enough, thus making it difficult for companies like Bethesda to support the console, according to Gamasutra.

Thankfully for Nintendo fans, it seems things could be different with the NX - though Hines stopped short of giving a definite “yes.”

We talk to Nintendo all the time – we’re pretty well briefed in on what they are doing. It’s definitely something we will look at; and our philosophy is that we will put our games out on any format that supports the games as we envisage and make them. If the NX fits that from a technical standpoint, and fits the game that a developer in our stable is making, I don’t see why we would not put it out on NX. But it’s too early to say, ‘we’ll definitely be putting games out or not.’ Like with mobile, we want to have the right fit for the right formats.

The Nintendo NX will release globally sometime during March 2017.

A RAGE Sequel would be impressive, especially if they built it on and joined the old maps with new maps and missions. There were plenty of suggestions in the game about "Other Communities" that could/should be explored ..... I'm ready, SHIP IT!
