BIOS Freeze..after a few keystrokes

Abit VT7...tried both PS2/USB KB (after setting Integrated Peripheral to use BIOS as opposed to OS)

Would a bad processor affect this? It recognizes the Intel 3.2ghz processor (which was moved from a burned out MB caused by Hurricane Rita's power surge (or could it have been my oversite of not unplugging it) Darn! Never anyone else to blame..LOL!
 
A power surge can damage the processor. Ive worked on several machines where the power supply blew and ruined every component. There may be a computer store in your area that can test processors.

I believe you are correct about the CPU being damaged by a power surge since the mobo and power supply are brand new. Oh well, just have to bite the bullet and buy a new CPU. Thanks again.
