I recently noticed that my hard drive seemed to be losing free space, while it very well should not be. I tried deleting many GB worth of stuff, and the values still remained the same. I've tried running chkdsk, but it did not fix the problem. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Probably a silly question but are they removed from your recycle bin? Also, do you have Norton System Works? Specifically why is Norton was just discovered to be using rootkits to keep files that "have been deleted" from really being deleted, and due to the rootkit thing, it may not show in the file system.

I did delete the files from the recycle bin, and I do have Norton System works. Where would Norton store the files? Thanks.

you have no profile info stored, so what kind of system and OS are you running?
I've seen this in Win/98se, not not in XP (with ntfs, a much better filesystem).
