Black Screen at Powerup on Laptop

Hello all - i am a silver surfer relatively new to the computer world.
I have a problem with my Fujitsu Siemans Amilo L7320GW Laptop.
When i power up the Laptop all i now get is 3 shortBeeps followed by a single short bleep and then a completely blank black screen.
The fan is running OK.
Could some kind computer knowledgeable person please help/advise me on what the Beeps mean and perhaps guide me in the right direction to get my laptop back on track.
Appreciate any help that someone may afford me.
