Black screen with visible mouse cursor

I start up my PC and after the Windows logo load I receive a black screen with the mouse cursor still visible. I have tried restarting my PC, still no luck. I restarted again but this time went onto safe mode (which works perfectly). I ran spyware and virus checks (Spybot and AVG Free Edt) and found a few spyware but no viruses, so I deleted the spyware then restarted Windows normally. Still doesn't work.

This first occured whilst I was playing Oblivion. The game just crashed unexpectadely, and the screen just went black with the cursor still visible. I then just shut down my computer by the power switch because I was unable to gain access to the desktop. after this I turned on my PC and receive a black screen with the mouse cursor still visible after the Windows loadup. (where it shows the Windows logo)

Any help will be much appreciated! Thanks!

Uninstall your video drivers from Add/Remove programs in Safe Mode (assuming you have an add-on card) and then see if you can boot normally into Windows.

If you can, the vid drivers were at fault.

If not, then some other drivers are.
