I just got a new Dell Laptop and i'm trying to copy a couple dvd's but it wont read the blank DVD-R discs to copy it to it...what should i do??

it might be that the drive doesn't support dvd-r discs, there are two formats, dvd-r and dvd+r so you have to get the right one

if you put the wrong one in the drive it won't do anything, it'll probably spit it out eventually, after deciding that what you've put in is alien technology

What kind of DVD's are you trying to copy and what program are you using?

Ensure your burner can HANDLE the correct type of disc. There are +R and -R discs.

Some burners are universal and can do both.
Toshiba does -R.
I am not sure about DELL.
