Blue screen on start with stop message 0x00000024

Hi, I keep getting this message. The computer will make it to the xp start up window then go to the BSOD with this error message. I have found what it means but no way to fix it, please help!!!

0x00000024: NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM
A problem occurred within NTFS.SYS, the driver file that allows the system to read and write to NTFS file system drives. There may be a physical problem with the disk, or an Interrupt Request Packet (IRP) may be corrupted. Other common causes include heavy hard drive fragmentation, heavy file I/O, problems with some types of drive-mirroring software, or some antivirus software.

Do the following in Safe Mode:

1. Start > Run > type in ChkDsk > click Okay and let it run. Tell us if at the end of Stage 2 if it states it is recovering lost files.

2. Find the make of your harddrive, go to the manufacturer's website, download their free harddrive diagnostic utility, and run the tests.
