Boot failure in XP without disk

  1. My brother just moved and got his computer hooked back up. Now when we start it it tells us there is a boot failure and to insert a disk. I fiddled around with BIOS settings and changed it to disable the floppy drive to bypass it but that didn't work. Thinking there were just loose cables that weren't connecting I opened up the back but everything seems okay. The problem is, my brother does not have the disk and I'm not sure how to fix it without it. Any suggestions?
