    Either case would probably work fine for you. The one you did not choose has a sideways hard drive mounting. For that I think you would have to have gotten a right angle connector on the data cable for a better clearance. It is also deeper. That would come in handy with more clearance for today's longer graphics cards like the nVidia 8800 series.

    However, case choice is largely a matter of personal preference so go with what you like as long as it fits your needs technologically.

    Go with an X1950GT\PRO instead. It gives better performance than the 8600GTS for about the same price.

    Alright, if you're going to upgrade any majot parts on this, you should get the retail version, not OEM. Also, I recomend the Fatality Sound card because it has it's own dedicated RAM for sound.

    The X-Fi is overrated. Onboard HD sound or any cheap 7.1 card that has support for EAX 3.0 (like the Audigy SE for example) is good enough.
