how do you format a avi and burn it to dvd?

    Nero VisionExpress

    I use nero vision express.

Takes an extreamly long time though. A full DVD of films (approx 3) will take anything from 12 - 24 hours

It needs to be converted to DVD format. That means MPEG and correct audio format. I use a free utility that does a decent job.
