    Hey guys,

I'm going to by a new laptop.. hopefully tonight! Any suggestions? I dont need anything too fancy... just using it for teaching (i'm a teacher) and wireless internet connection. I get a nice discount with Dell since I'm a teacher, but everyone keeps telling me dell is terrible.

How are the HPs? Thanks for any help!

Dell laptops are not that bad. They are perfect for students/teachers. I own an HP Pavilion laptop though and it's great, but I use it for gaming and schoolwork. For you, I suggest the Inspiron E1505. Customize the $685 one by changing the optical drive to a DVD Burner. That would make the final price $734. Here is the link. Good luck:grinthumb!

cool, thanks for the advice. I'm real tempted to get a nice HP, but I guess going with an inexspenive dell makes more sense for what i plan on using it for.

when buying a laptop, there are a few things it must have:
    1. WIFI capability
    2. decent battery time
    3. 1gb RAM
    4. at least a 60gb HD (preferably 7200 speed, if you can afford it.)
#3 and #4 will also improve your battery drain life.
