Is it possible to hook my cable box to my pc and use my monitor as a tv/computer screen? Or....am I just thinking waayyyyyy outside the box?

Check out PCI TV cards - you may be able to do this depending on the connection. I am in little England and this can be done here.

Which ATI do you have? You'll need one with a TV turner on it to make this work. I had an All In Wonder ATI Radeon 9700 Pro and it did a fair job of converting the TV signal into a digital stream. The picture always looked pixelated to me.

You need a PVR card.I have this installed and working well.
You can even record TV.Comes with remote control.
