Call of Duty is deploying player "clones" to identify and frustrate cheaters

Second Life used to send people to the corn field for a week. It was an isolated sim with just a big ol' corn field, and a single black and white TV playing a 30 second video loop. They found..

a) For whatever psychological reasons, if they barred the player from logging in for a week outright, they'd just create a new account and log in with that; but if they could log in but were just trapped in the cornfield, they wouldn't.

b) They were then in this sim where they were the only user, so any hacks they used they could get detailed logs of what they were doing. Few days later, those hacks didn't work any more.
