Cannot delete icon from desktop

Hello:
My name is Tim and I'm having a bit of trouble with an icon from a game I was downloading, then stopped.

I am running Windows XP home.
I tried to download a monopoly game. It was taking too long, so I quit the download, but I cannot delete the icon.
When I try to move the icon to the trash can it says to make sure the disk is not being used or write protected. There is no disk, just an icon.
So, I found this site and tried to go into my command promt and delete it, typing the path and name of the program. The prompt tells me I do not have access to it and cannot delete it...grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

here is what I get. Is there anyone that can help?

C:\Documents and Settings\Tim>
Could Not Find C:\Documents an

I type:

del"C:Documents and Settings\Tim\Desktop\Monopoly3Setup-dm*"

And get:

Access is denied.

Thanks:
Tim

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

You could also download the Pocket killbox programme from HERE

It`s usually very good at getting rid of stubborn files.

I had almost the exact same problem last week and I did what howard recommended and it worked perfectly. Good Luck!
