hi. i'm encountering a log in problem in windows xp on my home computer. after i click OK on the user/password window another window pops out saying that the computer will not run a certain file that sounds like "logon.ini" (im not sure but it sounds something like it) for safety reasons. then only thing i can see is the background wallpaper and mouse pointer is. nothing happens afterwards.

the same warning pops out when i try to access the task manager. when i press alt+ctrl+del for the second time, i'll be able to use the task manager. i then run windows explorer as a new task so i'll be able to use the computer normally. looks like nothing is broken except for the log in thinggy.

i hope my explanation is clear enough for anyone who would like to help.

Your user account profile is damaged I think. Reboot in safe mode and use the administration account to remove yours. Reboot and recreate yours but using a different name.
