This is a Presario C300 laptop with Win XP and a SATA hard drive. I want to install Win 2000 on a USB hard drive. When I boot from the 2000 disk I get to the part where it asks if I want to install or repair and I choose install. Then get the message that no hard drive is detected, press F3 to quit. Ive never run ibto this before. The computer runs perfectly and there are almost no settings in the BIOS.

Hi there vegasgmc, i don't quite understand what you mean!!

Do you mean that you can't install to a usb or the internal hard drive??

Neither. I dont get the option of choosing which partition to install the OS. I get the "no hard drive" error before that is supposed to come up. I just found out my motherboard doesnt have native SATA support for some reason but I was still hoping it would see the USB drive. This is my first laptop and Im still learning things.
