Can't leave DOS

I have an older laptop and wanted to upgrade the os from 98 to me but it wanted me to do so in DOS and now I can't upgrade or get back to windows. All I want to do is get back to windows
Can some one please advise me?

I am assuming you're installing XP or 2000? How are you upgrading? From where?

Type "windows"? It's been a while since I've used DOS

Why are you doing it in DOS anyways? Just put in the CD (if you have one), make sure that your CD drive is set to boot first (in the bios or pressing C sometimes) and install it that way.

Problem Fixed

Thank you for your responses. I finally restored windows by repeatedly rebooting. It is an older laptop but still can serve a small purpose but I needed it upgraded a little. I was actually going to install windows millenieum but my millineum disk is for a gateway so I had to settle for what I had and go with 98 fopr now. I just need it for testing purposes on the go and I will soon get a new laptop when I can afford one.

I can recommend the unofficial service pack for win98 here http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/Unofficial-Windows-SE-Service-Pack.shtml It improves stability and especially USB working.
