Can't read cd rom please help

    Brand new system
    Mobo: DFI 915P-TAG
    2.66ghz P4
    512mb DDR400 Geil Ram
    6600 GT
    80gig WD HD
    Sony CDRW drive

    Well it will recognize the SATA HD but I can't get it to recognize an IDE Floppy or CD ROM.

    Without the IDE cable plugged in, the cd rom will have power, light turns on and opens up. With the IDE cable plugged in it doesn't seem like its getting any power, light doesn't come on and won't open up.

    Any suggestions?

    Are they detected by the bios?
    Try another ribbon cable.
    Check all the connections again.

    I assume this has never run & you've yet to install an OS.
