Capcom has announced that work has already started on Resident Evil 6 and the title is scheduled for release later this year. The game will include Chris Redfield and Leon Kennedy from previous installments in addition to several new characters making their series debut.

Capcom says that Resident Evil 6 takes place 10 years after the incident in Raccoon City. The US president has decided to come clean and reveal the truth about what took place with the belief that it will curb current bioterrorist activity facing the nation. The president scheduled longtime friend and Raccoon City survivor Leon Kennedy to be by his side during the public address, but when the venue suffers a bioterrorist attack, Kennedy must make the hardest decision of his life.

A trailer for the game was launched yesterday that gives some additional hints to the plotline and setting, some of which appears to take place in China.

The Resident Evil series got its start way back in 1996 when it launched on the PlayStation console, receiving positive reviews from critics citing its original content and game play model. Since that time, Capcom has released nearly two dozen sequels that have collectively sold over 46 million copies as of September 2011. The franchise has even expanded to include comic books, novels and multiple big screen films.

Gamers can expect to get their hands on RE6 on November 20 for consoles with a PC version expected soon after.

Yes! talk about keeping a secret. I love it when they can annouce a quality title and can say it will be out the same year. Awesome!

Srsly? The Game I am looking the most forward to is Metal Gear Solid 5..if they call it that. Did you ever have any thought about whether they should maybe make a fighting game of "Capcom" Resident Evil Stars members against the Capcom Superheros? I don't really know WHO would win, but def. winz all around.

Looks to be a decent game, as long as they don't kill it by making it a "Games for Windows Live" game.
