Cd Drive making odd Screechs

Like a month after I installed my new Hard drive my cd drive starts making these weird screech sounds like nails on a chalk board but little lower. And sometimes on start up my cd drive is missing from My Computer.
I'm pretty sure this cd drive is really old since my brother put it in from his computer he had a long time ago.

sounds like you need a new cd drive as long as it definatly is that thats making the noise

With regards to your problem, it does sound as though the drive is just old and faulty, replace it and you'll be good to go
