Cd Drive or Motherboad problem

  1. OK so my Hard Drive blew up the other day in my laptop. So I installed a new hard drive. However, now I am having problems with my optical Drive. When I look up my bios the optical drive is not in the boot devices so I can not install windows or boot up my computer.

The green light lights up on the optical drive when I start my computer. So the Optical drive is getting power.

How can I tell if its a Bad optical Drive or the motherboard.

After I start the computer I get this error

Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot

What is the boot order? (like, besides the HD what else is there?)

    boot order

I only have 2 devices in the boot order Hard drive and Network card and I tried disabling the network card also when I boot up with no luck.

My Optical Drive does not show up in the Boot device

So I took my Optical drive out and put it in another laptop that i have and the optical drive worked so am guessing it a motherboard problem with the Optical Drive. Is this correct.

Yes - have you reset the Bios?
