Check out the Rogue One trailer that aired during the Olympics last night

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is still more than four months away but those lucky enough to be watching the Olympics last night got an early look at the prequel courtesy of a two-minute trailer that aired during NBC’s primetime broadcast.

If you missed the trailer for whatever reason, fret not as you can check it out right here. Unlike the first trailer, this new one highlights some of the film’s key characters and the relationships they have with others. Viewers also get to take in some action sequences and even get a brief glimpse of Darth Vader.

The film, in which a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, is scheduled to hit theaters on December 16, 2016.

It's a movie. No one is forcing you to watch it. You can always do that which everyone does with an Adblocker, and ignore it completely if it is that bad.

I'm actually looking forward to seeing this when it comes out.. Been following the chatter on the fansite forums for it for quite sometime. But I do love Star Wars a LOT.. Still remember my first experience seeing the original Episode IV - A New Hope back in '77. Good times..

Yeah I was born in 77, and thought that star wars was about the coolest thing in the world as a child. But, the prequels were so damn bad, my fandom for the franchise was almost dead. Then jj got his hands on TFA. Everyone was raving about it, but I think they were just happy not to have cgi and jar jar all over the place. It was pretty much a remake of a new hope. Come on, a completely untrained girl gives a beat down to a guy who again turned to the dark side and wiped out a Jedi school. While I guess luke decided to go fishing instead of taking care of business? Lame. Then they are going to slip this movie in between whatever that last prequel was named and a new hope? But these other nitwits were just introduced to us..... Lame.

I'm excited to finally get a EU movie. Less of the normal main characters, not focused on jedi, less traditional hero story. I'm game.

I was 18 in 77, and enjoyed the first three. I agree with you the prequels were very disappointing. Space daytime soap opera at best. I also agree TFA was New Hope by another name - and for the most part as lame as the prequels. Personally, I think JJ has ruined more than he has turned to gold. IMO, hollywood poster boy he is not.

However, the untrained giving a beat down to a trained is, as I see it, not so far from possibility. It is what is within that counts in any "mystical school". I won't, however, go to the theaters to see 8 and 9. I'll just wait until they come out on Netflix.

This trailer makes me think that Rogue One might be pretty good - especially if it gets away from the "main cast." I've seen trailers that have made me think the movie might be good, however, have been disappointed in the theaters.
