The second proper trailer for Oliver Stone’s upcoming biopic on NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden debuted at Comic-Con in San Diego on Thursday.

The two-and-a-half minute clip provides a deeper glimpse into the chaotic world of the man that changed the way we view privacy. Sure, it sensationalizes the truth a bit but what movie based on a true story doesn’t?

Snowden stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Edward Snowden and Shailene Woodley as his girlfriend Lindsay Mills. Look for it to land in theaters September 16.

Found is a TechSpot feature where we share clever, funny or otherwise interesting stuff from around the web.

BASED on a true story, NOT a documentary therefore artistic licence allowed. No complaints allowed that it's not the whole truth and nothing but the truth. This isn't history folks, it's a movie = entertainment.

You're 100% correct, but the sad fact is that most people get their history from the movies. Look at Stone's movie JFK - after that it was common opinion that Kennedy was shot from the grassy knoll and the govt was covering it up. Those two things are about as false as 'the pyramids were built by aliens' but it's what people believe.

Stone has his own political agenda and he's going to use Snowden to promote it. It's not sad that he does this - it's sad people will believe it.

Based on a "true story" as told by Oliver Stone, which means, it will be slanted to the left, bunch of conspiracies (aka the JFK movie among others), anything that makes a "good" socialist point of view.
Sorry...skipping this obviously-going-to-be left leaning movie.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt has a really good Snowden voice. I saw the actual documentary Snowden created before he fled, and if you close your eyes his voice sounds on point with Joseph's impersonation

I love it when people rationalize something as 'wrong', if it leans left. It should be obvious enough that privacy is a concern in the left already, so unless you feel Snowden was a traitor then of course this movie will be leaning towards the liberal side of things.

I couldn't care less about Oliver Stone's views, but Edward Snowden is an American hero. He saw something that was purely wrong, and he sacrificed everything to expose it -- something I'm sure many of us could never do.

Snowden is a true Patriot!
