Color of ram slots

hello, i've been wondering about my ram slots since they are of different color.

i got an MSI PT880 Neo (ddr ram) mobo and it has 2 kinds of slots in totall there are 4
ram slots.
2 are green and the other 2 are purple and i wonder if that has any reason why they
are colored that way.

I also like to know what kind of ram is good, i mean there are allot out there and
sometimes i can't really figure out which one is good.

My best guess is that there are 2 different colors to represent the two memory channels of your motherboard. I could be wrong. Check the board's manual or the MSI website.
