computer freezing up

Without warning at any time my computer will freeze up. My mouse can still move but buttons won't raise when i hover above them and no buttons can be clicked. and when it does freeze if I press alt+ctrl+dlt the task manager comes up but I can't do anything not even press alt+ctrl+del again to reset computer, If I do it just displays an hour glass next to the arrow and that's it. I have to turn off the computer manually and then the computer will work normally for a while until it decides to do it again. May work for 10 min or 10 hours. I have scanned for spyware/malware/adware/virus/trojan. I attatched a hijackthis log if that helps. Any help would be appreciated. thanks

yes i can load into safe. hp m1264n media center pc 1Gb ram winxp
