Hi!

I am so sorry to bother you all with this...I was just hoping that someone might know what the problem is with my laptop. It is an old laptop, but I'm a college student and I'm on a budget... :)

Okay, so basically when I turn it on, the screen is black with the following messages:
130496 KB Ok
161
163

Then, there is a blueish/turquoise square that pops up on the screen and says "Error 00161 00163"
The next blueish square is a calendar that prompts me to set the date and time.
Then, the background changes to ThinkPad and the new blueish square says Off > On with a flashing cursor.

At this point, I cannot do anything, the mouse doesn't work and none of the keys work. Everytime I try, I am forced to stop here and just turn off the laptop.

If anybody knows what this means, please let me know, if you have time.
Any suggestions/advice are welcome!
Thanks in advance for your time and help!
I really appreciate it.

If you need to keep setting the time and date everytime you boot it means it's not getting the info it needs from the Bios, it sound like the bios battery needs replacing which means opening the laptop up and puting a new bios battery in, if your not happy doing that then take it to a PC store and i'm sure they will do it for you when you buy the battery.

Thanks read on please...

Thanks so much for your reply.
I was wondering what a bios battery is and if you know where to purchase it?
Thanks again for your help!
