Computer won't turn on after trying to turn on faulty GoPro connected via cable

Hi

My GoPro recently stopped working after going underwater. I dried it out and plugged it into my computer which was initially working fine as normal. But when I tried to turn on the GoPro while being connected my computer shut down. I haven't been able to start it since. I suspect it may have been short circuit? But am not an expert in computers. My laptop is a Toshiba laptop. Anyone experienced similar and may know what happened? Would really appreciate your help. Thanks!
