Computer won't turn on

My computer turns on but I get no response in the screens. I know that I has to do with something on my mother board considering every time I bump my tower it freezes and I have to force shut down my computer, but today I was installing a fan and a standoff in my custom build but after I was done it wont ever turn on. One thing does seem to work that I did try when this happened once is that I unplugged the power to the board and plugged it back in and that usually works, but today it wont do anything! Please help!

Could it be something is loose? - and even rattling around ?... could be a dropped screw causing a ground, etc.

In your shoes, I would remove everything from the case and do a benchtop rebuild - and if the last time I installed the CPU/heatsink was >2 years, I would remove heatsink and replace TIM while I was at it

The cpu heatsink is has kinda brand new thermal past on it and I did take everything out and put it back together and it still doesn't work...the only thing I noticed is that the H.D.D light doesn't go off anymore and I'm pretty sure that is the problem, but idk how to fix that.
ps. I also ziptied all the wires so it looks neater and no I did not tighten them to tight.

"H.D.D light doesn't go off anymore" - Check motherboard manual and compare to how headers are wired.

"every time I bump my tower it freezes" - Good possibility that a standoff is in the wrong place.

Another thing to check are the grounding fingers on the backplate - if one pokes into a USB socket, it can be interesting...

can you give me an example? I'm very picture visual person and PS this custom build, I didn't pay a dime for it. unless the guy that I work with still has the manual but I doubt it. the board is a asus m3a78-em motherboard with a cpu heatsink that looks a lot like this on but a little older.

Ok so remember when I mention I added a standoff well I took that one out and it still don't work just tried it

This system is about a decade old.

Obtain manual from motherboard maker - support - download. Read it.

Obtain a new coin battery for CMOS and thermal paste and isopropyl alcohol. Disassemble and clean the system including replacing the thermal paste between cpu and heatsink and the old coin battery.

Many videos on YouTube cover this. Watch several.

Review manual again. Reassemble system following motherboard manual step by step.
