I just started experiencing constant freezing on my desktop. The only thing im running is a IE8 or Firefox with a few tabs open. Freezes up every minute or so and lasts for 30+ seconds and then starts working again. One thing I noticed is when the freezing occurs there is no sound from my computer. As soon as the freezing goes away I can hear my computer working again. Kind of like the loading/crunching sound a computer makes sometimes.
Things I have done/checked:
Dusted with air can
CPU and Power fan working
deleted some old files and programs
Im thinking part of my RAM is going bad but im not sure.
NOTE:
Just replaced broken video card with a cheaper card that has no fan. This may sound like a dumb question but could the freezing be becaus the card is overheating? Do I need to install an external fan for the card?
