I built a computer about a week ago and it was the first one that I have worked on. It was work untill last night, when I shut down the computer last night it took about one and a half mins. And today it would not start up, all I got was a blank screen, so I swapped out the video card and that did nothing so I took out the hard drive a put a old hard drive in that had win98 (the new one has win98 too) that did nothing so I swapped out the ide cable still nothing. Now I am down to the last two parts the cpu and the mobo
this is the Cpu AMD Athlon 1.33 GHz, 266MHz FSB, 256K Cache
and the mobo is a ECS "K7VTA3 V6.0" VIA KT333 . I did not use the thermal paste(I didn't know about that). The cpu had 4 1/4 inch rubber discs on it.

Those older Athlons run VERY hot and if you didnt use thermal paste the processor most likely burned out. It could have damaged the motherboard too. You could also have a bad power supply.
