Create Utility Partition (Dimension 8300)

Want to reformat my Dimension 8300, but i would like to create a Utility Partion and put the Dell Diagnostic Tools (provided on Dell's site) whne i reinstall Windows. How would i accomplish this? Thanks.

are you reformating the whole drive?
if so the xp or W2K disc will let you create and format partition of any size up to total disc size
after you have it installed go to disc management and format the rest then copy your tools to that partition.
if you are not doing a clean install/format
need a good PM try paragon or acronis

thnks. it would be a fresh install, so a clean format. So i would partition the the drive, the first partition would be a Utility Partition but what would the filesystem be? also how do i put the dell utility on this partition? thanks again
