Creative Audigy Audio Processor Problem

  1. Hello,

I am new here and hoping someone can help me. Recently my speakers have started crackling when they are turned on. It gets worse when sound is coming out. I know it sounds like a case of a blown set of speakers, but I bought another set and they still don't work. I have a Dell Dimension 4600 with a Creative Audigy Audio Processor (WDM). The driver I am using is ctaud2k.sys. If anyone has ANY ideas, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Your audio driver may be damaged or corrupt. There should be newer ones on Dells web site.

I just updated my sound card drivers to the most recent ones, and unfortunately the problem persists. Thank you for the idea though. Any other suggestions? Could it just be dusty inside, and if so, how would one go about cleaning it?
