No answer in Hardware, so I'll try here.

Looking for a decent pair of over-ear phones, not high end
but not junk either.

Hearing isn't the best anymore, so don't need extraordinary
range or clarity, etc, just decent middle of the road performance.

I've seen the wireless ones, is there any significant degradation
of sound with those?

Thanks

Man, a lot of headphone questions around the forums these days.

"nothing fancy", but "not junk either", means you're probably looking for a set in the range of $20 - $40 bucks. Wireless sets are usually more expensive. They don't have less sound quality, but you have to work with more parts, and batteries, etc...

Headphones I've been recommending come from www.xoxide.com. Check in the gaming hardware section.
Otherwise, any set over $15 from a local store will probably be fine. Get a pair of Sonys or Koss.

Sennheiser produces the best headphones IMO. My brother has the Sennheiser EH-150 Supra-Aural headphones and he can't stop raving about them. I've tried them and for headphones, they have awesome clarity. Check them out.

Sennheiser HD-555 are very good but a bit pricey. Something like the HD-202 would do nicely in the meantime. I can also recommend Koss as I'm using a pair of Sporta Pro & like them very much.

Hey, thanks for all the input!

I started looking thru Cnet reviews, saw some good reviews on
a particular Sony and a Koss (in my price range, at least on ebay!),
but in particular the Sennheiser.

Never heard of them, but was impressed both with the review and
with the specs - the HD280Pro I think was the ones I read about.

Well, back to good ol ebay, scored a new pair for $80 shipped.
Yeah, more than I wanted to spend, but seems that's how I usually
end up. What's the old saying - "the sweetness of low price is
quickly forgotten with the sour taste of low quality" or some such?

For about $30 more than I started out looking to spend, I think I'll
be at least that much happier with these. Otherwise I'd always
think about how much better could the Sennheiser's be than whatever
I spent less for.

Thanks again! I learn something every time I come on here.
