Delete audio from an iPad video

Is there a free program to delete the audio in a video I made?

You can use ffmpeg to remove the audio tracks without the need to encode the video track again:

ffmpeg -I [input_file] -vcodec copy -an [output_file]

@jobeard , I've looked every place on this W7 pc but can't find it. I have seen it on here before,but not now. I even searched for it but nothing.

You can do this all on your iPad. No need to go offloading the file elsewhere.

Open up iMovie on your iPad. It should show you all the videos you've taken. If its the first time you've opened it there will be some walkthrough screens.

Next select Projects (top middle). Tap + to start a new movie. Tap movie. Tap Create (top right). Read the top of the screen, which will tell you to tap the film and music note icon. Do that. Find your video, tap it. Tap on the down arrow.

Now your video is in the bottom half of the screen. Touch and hold on the video, this will bring up something at the bottom of your screen. Bottom middle is a speaker icon, tap that, tap detach. That drops your audio into a bar below the video, tap it. Tap delete.

Hit the back arrow at top left. This will show you a screen with "MY MOVIE". Below that is 3 icons, play, a box with an up arrow, and a trash can. Hit the box with the up arrow. That brings up a thing from the bottom. Bottom left of what was brought up is 'Save Video'. Tap that. Choose size. Now your video with no sound is in your Photo Library.


I just did this, on the fly, my first time ever and I wrote instructions as I did it. I'm sure it is explained much more eloquently by other people in various other places on the web. If you can't figure it out by my instructions, check out youtube. I'd try searching "remove sound with iMovie in iOS" or something similar.

Ok, well. It should be free for iOS 8. If its not then I don't know what to tell you, it says it should be free, maybe I'm reading it wrong.

All I know is from what I read earlier, iMovie is free for iOS 8, my phone came with iOS 8 on it, and it had iMovie. I do know that you've spent a couple days at this point on this problem. iMovie should be free, I don't know why its showing $5 for you, but even at $5, how much is your time worth? You didn't get it figured out for free on a computer yet did you? I KNOW you can do what you want for free on a PC, you can do it for free on a Mac or Linux computer too. But how much time are you willing to spend jumping through hoops?

Ok, I appreciate your help & others help. I simply have a video of me feeding a friendly squirrel when it bit me & out of surprise I swore. I wanted to delete the word but its not a must. Thank you.
