Can I use a:

Zonet 54Mbps 802.11g USB 2.0 Wireless Adapter (tigerdirect.com)

on a Dell Inspiron 3000 notebook computer running windows 98?

Thanks! (There is a USB on the back...but are they all the same?)

I think it probably has usb 1.1. It should still work, it should have a windows 98 driver to help the computer recognize it. Usb 1.1 isn't as fast, so it probably won't be able to connect at 54mbps. Usb 1.1 transfers at 12mbps so that would be the max speed probably. Usb 2.0 is 480mbps, much faster.

I'd suggest you not try to use anything more than a b only card on that system as it won't work. Those old systems don't output enough power for g cards. This goes for both PC cards as well as USB.
