Dell Inspiron 5100 fails to display

    I have a Dell Inspiron 5100 laptop that fails to display. The processor fan spins. The processor gets hot but it can't boot nor dispays even when an external monitor is connected to it

    I need help on how to get it back on please.

    Try using an external monitor. You may have to enable the external monitor port using keys on the keyboard. If the external monitor works, your laptops LCD backlight is probably burned out

    Dell inspiron 5100 will not post

    I am having the same issue do you know what key to hit to get the external to work? mine wouldnt work with an external by its self

    There is usually a little picture of a monitor screen on a key near the top row of keys. You may have to press the Fn key at the same time
