Hi I am trying to recover some data from a laptop HDD - I already have a caddy but when I remove the HDD from the laptop the connectors are different - (Not SATA V IDE) - it is an IDE but it has different shaped pins to what my caddy will accept ?

Any Ideas what type of caddy I would need to buy - to be able to access this data

You need a caddy/adapter that includes a 2.5" IDE (laptop) connector.Yours probably only has 3.5 (desktop)
Some have connectors for all hard drive types - IDE,SATA 2.5,3.5

No I had the right caddy 2.5 (Laptop)
What is was is that the HDD had an adapter over the IDE Pins. Eased this off with a pair tweezers - the IDE pins are revealed - fitted into the caddy - and data recovered.
