Denmark has a new tax on electric cars and Tesla isn't happy

There are a number of countries with extremely high taxes on motor vehicles. They do it to suppress the number of vehicles on the road.

Sure it does suppress it. It's impossible not to. And Denmark is to be one of the highest by far of any car tax. That's also why so few people have cars in North Korea, the Caribbean, and those type places. Or try cars in China. Most people can't afford them either. So few cars...

OR, it can be the other way around, Buy a used car in the UK. Prices are peachy, but try to get it insured... hehehe.

Tesla will get around the crazy import tax by building a manufacturing plant in Denmark; problem solved..and I think that was the point.

It is quite funny to see how "foreigners" are discussing the taxation system in Denmark.
I am Danish and when I want, for example, to buy a $100.000 Mercedes I have to pay $300.000 for the car. I.e. taxes are normally - in round figures - 200% of the cars imported price.
So much for the sad story about Tesla in Denmark.
The reasons for the high taxes in Denmark is that we have a social security covering everybody, and nearly everybody is happy with that!

Why should electric cars have tax breaks in the 1st place?
So that Elon Musk can become a billionaire by virtue of selling only about a half million cars or so.
...[ ]...Then I see people from Denmark not being able to get a Tesla anymore and Tesla pulling out of the area. They won't be able to keep a business there. Those taxes are insane. And I thought US taxes were bad.
That's just too f**King bad, now isn't it?

Most people anywhere can' "get a Tesla", because of the price, period. And that's in spite of all the tax breaks Musk has gotten.
